Abstract

The aim of this article is to illustrate the role and importance of sustainable development and the green economy, as defined by the Global Goals, which are breaking new ground in addressing inequalities, economic growth, decent jobs, the challenges of cities and human settlements, industrialisation, energy, climate change, sustainable consumption and production, peace and justice. The challenges of green human resource management are reflected in developing the competences of employees, increasing their level of motivation and gaining their commitment to environmental activities. One good practice is the introduction of green offices, which aim to motivate office staff to act in an environmentally friendly way in their daily tasks, encouraging environmental awareness and, in the process, generating savings that benefit not only the environment but also the company. In a survey of 57 employees, we found that they are the most conscientious about sorting recyclable materials into the appropriate containers (x̅ = 4.4; σ = o.81), using electronic document transmission (x̅ = 4.3; σ = o.81), using electronic document transmission (x̅ = 4.3;  σ = o.81) and using electronic document transmission (x̅ = 4.3); σ = 0.97), save water and energy (x̅ = 3.7; σ = 1.08) and avoid unnecessary printing as much as possible to save paper at work (x̅ = 3.6; σ = 1.11).
