Digital Transformation Success Factors

Digital technologies enable the establishment of natural digital enterprises, whose business models are based on their capabilities (e.g. Uber, Airbnb). This poses a significant competitive threat to traditional organizations, forcing them to embark on the path of digital transformation as soon as possible. Organizations are aware of the importance of successful transformation, but there is a lack of knowledge about success factors, good practices, and appropriate methodologies and approaches, resulting in slow changes and many failed transformations. With our research we would like to fill this gap. Therefore, we first introduce the five-stage digital transformation model that can be used to assess the current stage of any organization. In the following paper, we present a list of seven success factors and discuss good practices, methodologies, and approaches, which could accelerate the process of transformation and have a positive effect on increasing its success. The presented results can be used as a management tool for a more successful transformation in any organization.
