Abstract

The focus of the paper is on the understanding of career and changes in its conception. The key actors in contemporary paradigmatic career’s views are the individual as an employee and the organization, of which role has changed significantly through the time dimension shown. We study the effects/correlation of conception of the employees’ career development with career development in the organization, as well as the importance of career satisfaction (subjective experience) in this relationship. Using the quantitative empirical approach, we would like to highlight how the internal environment of the organization shapes the perception of the employee's career in Slovenian organizations on one hand, and how it contributes to the subjective perception of career satisfaction on the other. The results show that the internal organizational environment makes an important contribution to the understanding of career, planning and setting career goals, and experiencing satisfaction when implementing them in the organization and beyond.
