Abstract

The article deals with the efficiency of tertiary education. Efficiency is based on the relationship between inputs and outputs. The educational process can be seen as the production process, but it is difficult to measure it from the aspect of inputs as well as from the outputs. Educational output can be defined as a function of numerous school and non-school inputs. Measuring the internal efficiency of education can be implemented using some basic indicators and more complex methods. We have analyzed the functioning of the School of Business and Management, School of Advanced Social Studies, International School for Social and Business Studies, and Gea College based on the data envelopment analysis methodology. A few other independent higher education institutions regardless to the field of study were additionally added to the sample, namely Polymer Technology College, School of Environmental Protection, College of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences Novo mesto and Faculty of Technologies and Systems. In comparison with the other independent higher educational institutions included in the analysis, School of Business and Management demonstrates an efficient and relatively stable performance.
