We have many levels of intelligence, in addition to the intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional intelligence (EQ) is increasingly coming to the fore, which tells us how we manage our own emotions and the emotions of the people around us. Both have a significant impact on the performance of tasks in the workplace. We used a systematic review of scientific and professional literature in Google Scholar, Science Direct and EBSCO databases, as well as in the journal Human Resource Management/HRM – strokovna revija za ravnanje z ljudmi pri delu and the Journal of Economic and Business Sciences/Revija za ekonomske in poslovne vede. In order to include the articles in the literature review, we considered the inclusion criteria, which included keywords and phrases in the Slovenian language (čustvena inteligenca na delovnem mestu) and in the English language (emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence in the workplace, emotional intelligence and job satisfaction, emotional intelligence and job performance). We focused on the analysis of original and transparent scientific articles that were available in full text and were relevant in terms of content and topicality. The results of the reviewed literature show a significant
connection between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction and the performance of an individual in the workplace.
